Firstly, discrimination and bias occur to anyone who had heard a single story by word of mouth. For example, people who come from poor areas may be taken mercy on, or even be looked down upon by others. Not only bad views influence us, but also good views has their bad effects. If we only heard the better sides of one thing, we will easily form a high expectation of that. However, the fact may let us down, what’s worse, it may destroy the plan.
As for the second question, my answer is ‘yes’! Until today, in China, there are still a host of people keep a fixed impression that gender differences. I mean not just gender discrimination, but also some comments passed for praise the group. Typical example like women born with the talent of liberal arts, carefulness and so on, has restricted women naturally development. Influenced by these concepts, women concentrate more on the liberal arts, while men are compelled to dig into science.
Just several month ago, when an adult heard of my admission to Fudan university, he said that there is no need for a girl to study further, especially in science. Well, i have nothing to say to a man who has this concept for such a long time. But i hope, we, the new generation, will gradually be aware of human equality, to let equality and liberty become our principle and conviction, to let us live in a less biased society.
